Last year, the social network X, owned by Elon Musk, introduced a feature for paid users to hide checkmarks from others. The company is currently sending a notification to users that this feature will soon be retired.
As with many decisions made by X, there is no clear timeline for when the ability to hide the checkmark will be retired.
Last week, the company removed a section from its X Premium support page that explained how to hide the checkmark feature before sending notifications to users. This feature was not available to base tier subscribers.
“If you are a Premium or Premium+ subscriber, you can hide the checkmark on your account. The checkmark on your profile and posts will be hidden. The checkmark may still appear in some places. , and you may still find that you have an active subscription for some features,” the description says.
Earlier this month, the social network began handing out blue checkmarks to influential users with 2,500 or more “verified” followers. The company also started offering a Premium His subscription to these users and a Premium+ subscription to users with 5,000 or more verified followers.
Last year, Musk removed the traditional verification checkmark after introducing a subscription program. However, the company quickly reinstated the blue checkmark for top accounts. Basically, the verification program goes back to its starting point of verifying famous people.
