Watch: OpenAI's media deal rush continues with FT deal

OpenAI has signed a new content deal with the FT. But rather than a simple deal where OpenAI gets the word and FT gets the funding, the two sides are partnering a little deeper. Look forward to seeing FT.com links on ChapterGPT in the future.

But the FT's partnership with OpenAI tells us more than just that one media company will soon have a few more Ducketts in its pocket. No, this is yet another of his OpenAI deals, further strengthening the Microsoft-backed AI shop's ability to pull in training material without legal risk, and pay some of the providers of that material for their work. will start.

It's okay, right? In some ways, however, there are concerns that some AI companies' efforts to start paying for training data after consuming it in large quantities could mean moving them backwards on the training ladder. there is. Other AI companies looking to follow in their footsteps could then follow the same steeper and more expensive path that OpenAIs around the world are already taking.

This is a strange and disgusting situation where we want to be paid fairly for the materials used, but we also want to avoid handing the future of AI to a group of already wealthy corporations. This will only strengthen the oligopoly. And of course, media companies that spend more than all their money on reporting and writing need fair compensation. That's the stake. So let's talk about it!
