Consumer demand for the latest AI technologies is increasing. With the launch of OpenAI's latest flagship model, his GPT-4o, the company's mobile sales achieved the biggest jump in history, even though this model is available for free on his web. His GPT-4o, launched last Monday, can process text, audio, and video, offering real-time responsiveness and a wide range of emotive audio options, making it far more powerful than anything previously offered. It is a model. This innovation is driving more users to upgrade to OpenAI's paid subscriptions, according to new data from app intelligence company Appfigures.
OpenAI said GPT-4o will be available to free tier users, but that promise did not extend to users of the ChatGPT app on mobile. Instead, mobile users are being urged to upgrade to ChatGPT Plus, a $19.99 monthly subscription, if they want to try OpenAI's latest release.
This strategic decision has increased demand for subscriptions among mobile users, leading to the largest revenue spike OpenAI has ever experienced on mobile devices.

According to Notes Appfigures, ChatGPT mobile app net revenue jumped 22% for the first time on the day of GPT-4o's launch and continued to grow in the following days. Tuesday's net earnings were up to $900,000, nearly double his daily average of $491,000 on the app. (Net revenue figures are calculated after Apple and Google take their fees.)
Prior to this, ChatGPT's second biggest spike was in April, but it was much smaller and was just an unusually high revenue day, not a huge spike.

From Monday to Friday last week, the ChatGPT mobile app generated $4.2 million in net revenue on both the App Store and Google Play. This represents the largest revenue spike the app has ever seen. The jump in revenue shows there is real demand from consumers to try out the latest experiments in AI, especially on mobile, even if it costs more than a Netflix subscription.
Apple's App Store contributed the majority of new revenue (81%), with the US being the top market with $1.8 million in revenue. Other top countries include Germany ($282,000), the United Kingdom ($212,000), Japan ($210,000), France ($147,000), Canada ($134,000), and South Korea ($120,000). Brazil ($117,000), Australia ($102,000) and Turkey ($89,000).
What's more, the data shows that revenue trends don't appear to be slowing down just yet and may, in fact, be holding steady or even increasing. stay tuned.
