At Apple's WWDC 2024 in Cupertino, macOS received some notable upgrades, with the latest version being macOS Sequoia.
One of the biggest features is iPhone mirroring. Now, with Continuity in macOS, you can mirror your iPhone screen and control it directly from your Mac laptop or desktop. Notifications on your Mac will trigger iPhone mirror mode, and your iPhone audio will also be heard through your Mac, while the paired iPhone remains locked.
Other improvements in macOS Sequoia include automatic window tiling and a presenter preview mode for video conferencing with built-in background replacement. Upgrades to Keychain, including a new cross-platform Passwords app, help you manage your credentials.
Safari now has Highlights, which uses AI to automatically find what's interesting and show it with a click, Safari's Reader Mode gives you an AI-powered page summary and table of contents, and a new viewer option uses system video controls to bring video to the foreground.
On the gaming front, Apple has announced the latest version of its game porting toolkit, Game Porting Toolkit 2, which brings improved Windows compatibility and enhanced debugging tools.
The MacOS Sequoia beta will be available this month, with the final release planned for this fall.
Apple also announced iOS 18 updates to its Photos app and an upgrade to its Calculator app for iPad.
