Privacy-focused search engine and web browser company Brave Software is integrating search results into its Leo chatbot. Search results are based on the Brave Search API, and Leo is integrated into the company's browser. The company says the integration helps users find more up-to-date information.
This integration allows you to get information like the latest scores, pull more topic-related context when reading an article, and search recent related topics to create social media posts.

Brave stressed that the integration is privacy-focused, as it doesn't require users to log in. Additionally, it doesn't store conversations with its AI chatbot on its servers. Brave said it doesn't use the responses to train its models. The company added that it sends requests to anonymized servers first to hide users' identities.
You can also purchase Leo Premium for $14.99 per month, which gives you higher rate limits and access to the latest models. The company says that once you purchase a subscription, you are issued a non-linkable token to prevent you from being identified.
Brave has been working on building AI features to attract more users to its browser and search engine. The company introduced an AI-powered summarization feature in its search product last year to show users the gist of answers to their search queries. It also made its Leo AI Assistant available to everyone in November 2023. In April, the company introduced an AI Answer engine for search that answers users' queries.
Other browsers like Edge, Opera, Arc, and SigmaOS have also integrated AI to varying degrees, and Brave seems keen to use the advantage of owning both the browser and the search stack to improve its product.
