WhatsApp has announced the launch of a filter called “Favourites,” which allows you to quickly find chats with the people or groups that matter most to you and connect with them via call directly from the top of the Calls tab.
The 'Favourites' filter will be available starting Tuesday and to all WhatsApp users in the coming weeks, allowing you to keep all your chats with your close friends or family groups in one place for quick access. The instant messaging app has also added a 'Favourites' section in the calls tab, allowing you to quickly dial your favourite contacts without having to go through your recent calls or find them in your contact book.
To add a contact or group to your favorites list, select the “Favorites” filter from the chats screen or tap on the “Add to favorites” option after selecting the particular contact or group from the calls tab. To add a chat to your favorites, long press on the chat and select “Add to favorites”. Similarly, WhatsApp gives you the option to manage your favorite contacts and groups by navigating to Settings > Favorites > Add to favorites. You can also reorder them as per your preference at any time.
As reported by WABetaInfo, WhatsApp was spotted testing the ability to select favorite contacts on iOS and the web in February, and the feature was made available on Android in April.
The latest update comes three months after WhatsApp introduced chat filters. The Meta-owned app initially launched three filters — “All,” “Unread,” and “Groups.” But the addition of “Favorites” makes chat filters even more useful. In the absence of native filters, people resorted to alternatives to quickly call or video chat with their favorite contacts via WhatsApp.
