It took 16 weeks to get there, but Anthropic's AI app Claude has hit a notable milestone: It has surpassed $1 million in total mobile app revenue across iOS and Android, with nearly half of that revenue generated by U.S. users, according to new data from app intelligence firm Appfigures.
However, Claude still lags far behind top rival ChatGPT, which is #1 in total downloads and #26 in revenue in the U.S. on iOS. Claude only ranks 95th in downloads and 68th in revenue in the Productivity category.

Earlier this year, we reported that Claude's mobile app received a fairly lukewarm response in its first week on the market, garnering just 157,000 downloads worldwide. In comparison, ChatGPT recorded 480,000 mobile app installs in the first five days after its iOS-only US release. The highest ranking Claude achieved in the US was when it reached #55 on the Top Free iPhone Apps chart a few days after its iOS debut, Appfigures said at the time.
Still, Claude managed to hit its first $1 million in revenue faster than any other competing AI app. While still far behind ChatGPT, which took just three weeks to reach the milestone, Claude beat out Microsoft's CoPilot and Perplexity, which took 19 and 22 weeks, respectively, to reach the $1 million figure.

In terms of downloads, Claude's largest market is the United States with 32.5%, followed by India (9.6%), Japan (6.8%), the United Kingdom (5.1%) and Germany (3.2%). Together, these top five markets account for 57.2% of Claude's mobile app installs.
Claude's mobile monetization picture is similar, with the US again leading the way with 48.4% revenue share, followed by Japan (6.7%), Germany (4.3%), the UK (4.3%) and South Korea (2.8%) for a combined share of 66.8%.
Claude's challenge in the mobile consumer market is likely to continue, especially as Apple Intelligence gives Siri users direct access to ChatGPT via their iPhone.
