Elon Musk-owned social network X is finally introducing one of the most requested features for direct messages: message editing.
Last weekend, X rolled out the message editing feature to iOS users, and one of the company's engineers posted about the rollout, saying that the message editing feature will soon be available on other platforms.
Here's how to use it:
X Open a direct message chat from the iOS app. Press and hold a sent message or tap the three dots menu next to it. To edit a sent message,[メッセージを編集]Select an option:
According to the support page, there is no time limit for editing messages. In our testing, we found that you can also edit older DMs on the platform, but you can only edit an entire message five times. The same limit applies to editing posts on social networks.
X has stated that it keeps a log of edited messages for security reasons, but currently does not show the version history of edited messages.
Users expect to be able to edit messages in messaging apps, as other chat apps like WhatsApp, Telegram, Signal, and Messenger have offered the feature for some time now. Apple also added the ability to edit messages sent via iMessage in iOS 16.
