YouTube on Wednesday confirmed the full rollout of its collaborative “Add Yours” stickers for YouTube Shorts, after the Google-owned company first announced the feature in July.
The stickers work in a similar way to Instagram's feature of the same name, encouraging users to share their own interpretations of creators' videos. Both platforms' “Add Yours” features take a leaf out of TikTok's book, as they look a bit like the short-form video app's “Duet” tool, which lets users create content with original videos.
With the new Shorts feature, you can spark a chain reaction of adorable content by posting a Short video of your dog, adding stickers, and encouraging others to share videos of their dog. Or you can post an “outfit of the day” Short video and encourage others to share videos of their dog via stickers.
Once you've finished recording your video, tap the sticker icon, select the “Add Yours” sticker, and enter your prompt. Once your Short is published, viewers can respond with their own Shorts or tap the sticker to see other responses.
The stickers were announced as part of new features for creators, including the ability to automatically turn longer videos into short ones and create auto-generated captions that can be edited and customized with a variety of fonts and colors.
