Apple announced on Wednesday that its generative AI service will be available in even more languages in 2025. The new additions to Apple Intelligence include English (India), English (Singapore), German, Italian, Korean, Portuguese, Vietnamese, and “other” languages yet to be announced.
The feature will be released as part of the iOS 18.1 update and will launch in American English. The company previously announced that localized English support for Australia, Canada, New Zealand, South Africa, and the UK will come in the second half of 2024, while support for Chinese, French, Japanese, and Spanish will arrive in 2025.
But it's worth noting that Apple Intelligence is blocked in two huge markets at launch: It won't be available on iPhones or iPads in the EU due to regulatory issues with the Digital Markets Act, though the company told TechCrunch it's currently in discussions with the European Commission on the issue, and noted that Apple Intelligence is currently available in the EU through the macOS Sequoia 15.1 developer beta.
An even bigger issue comes in China, where Apple is grappling with local regulations around generative AI models, and the company said it is also in discussions about Apple Intelligence in that key market.
