AI has already given us some strange demos, and it's only going to get weirder, folks. As the tech world slams headfirst into the uncanny valley, the lines are blurring and everything is getting weirder and weirder.
Take Wednesday's Meta Connect keynote, for example: Meta AI and Llama demos were running constantly throughout the event, but one in particular stood out for its strangeness.
Mark Zuckerberg invited creator Don Allen Stevenson III onto the stage, where the Meta CEO picked up the phone and carried on a conversation with the AI-generated Stevenson while the real Stevenson stood between him and the AI-generated version on the big screen.
The demo showcased AI Studio, a platform for designing custom chatbots. The program, which opened to all U.S. creators in July, initially started out as text-only. Meanwhile, Wednesday's event showcased how creators can essentially create virtual versions of themselves.
“If I'm getting a ton of direct messages and I don't have time to respond, Creator AI answers a lot of my most common questions,” Stevenson said of how she uses the platform. “It saves me time. It gives me time to go outside and take a break.”
Meta ran this demo during the same presentation that introduced chatbots voiced by Awkwafina, Judi Dench, John Cena, Keegan-Michael Key, and Kristen Bell.
