SpotHero, a parking startup that helps drivers reserve nearby parking spaces, on Tuesday partnered with Google to integrate its service into Google Maps and Google Search, giving users in the U.S. and Canada the ability to park at more than 8,000 parking spots. It has been announced that the space can now be reserved.
The latest feature allows users to find and reserve parking near their destination by selecting the “Book Online” button within both apps. Clicking will take you to the SpotHero website where you can complete your reservation without leaving Maps or Search. Users can also reserve parking spaces in advance. Additionally, you have options for finding locations that offer EV charging, wheelchair access, and valet service.

The partnership between Google and SpotHero marks an important development, as Google does not offer its own parking reservation tool. However, this is not the first time parking has been consolidated. Google Maps previously worked with ParkMobile to allow users to pay for parking within the app.
This integration is a major win for SpotHero, considering the large user base of Maps and Search, which is used by billions of people around the world. As stated on the website, SpotHero receives a 35% share from each booking.
SpotHero claims to serve more than 10 million drivers across North America and says parking reservation sales are approaching $1.5 billion. Last year, the company partnered with Apple Maps to provide a parking solution for iPhone and Mac users.
Google is slowly but surely adding features to keep users in the app. Today's announcement comes on the heels of Google Maps adding details about a destination directly within the app as drivers approach their destination, and directing them to available parking spaces in or near a building.
