TechCrunch editorial staff carefully selected 200 startups to make up the Startup Battlefield 200 from thousands of applicants. This year, TechCrunch had the most applications from around the world and across many industries. Out of 200 companies, 20 finalists will be selected to compete on the Disrupt Stage for the non-stock grand prize of $100,000 and the coveted Disrupt Cup. Less than 1% of applicants to the Startup Battlefield program are selected as top 20 finalists, making it one of the most competitive startup programs in the industry.
As part of Startup Battlefield 200, founders will participate in a series of pre-event virtual programming to help prepare for pitches on the Disrupt Stage. In addition to extensive pitch coaching, this year's program includes Founder Fireside Chats with legends like Kevin Ryan (AlleyCorp) and Marcelo Lebre (Remote), as well as Sara Deshpande (Maven Ventures) and Ishani Thakur (Index Ventures). This year's Top 20 finalists will follow in the footsteps of Startup Battlefield legends like DropBox, Discord, CloudFlare, Mint, and more on the Disrupt Stage. With more than 1,500 alumni participating in the program, Startup Battlefield Alumni has collectively raised more than $29 billion and achieved more than 200 successes.
Startup Battlefield Top 20 finalists were selected for their potential to transform social, environmental, and economic impact. Starting today, the top 20 finalists will have six minutes of live on-stage pitches and demos, followed by a six-minute Q&A with a panel of expert judges.
