This week on Found, we dig into the future of trucking with Raquel Urtasun, CEO and co-founder of Wabi, a pioneer in driverless long-haul trucks powered by generative AI. Hosts Dominic-Madri Davis and Becca Szuchtak discuss Warbi's unique simulation-based training and how this approach will minimize mistakes when heavy trucks hit the roads later this year. Learn about what is intended.
Like many developments in AI, replacing long-haul truck drivers with driverless trucks could lead to changes in the workforce. But Urtasun is confident the slow rollout of the technology will allow the industry to adapt. “I'm very motivated and want to build technology that allows us humans to do so-called more human jobs,” Urtasun said, explaining the physical and metal challenges truck drivers face. I sincerely think so,” he said.
The conversation also covered:
The infrastructure requirements that will be needed if these self-driving trucks are to be used in large numbers. How is Urtasun's AI-driven approach different from other leaders in the AV space, who often have a background in robotics? She sees Waabi as a generative AI company, not a robot company. Deploying such large unmanned vehicles presents safety and technical challenges. Everything from weather to traffic patterns needs to be considered.
