Apple just released iOS 18.1.1, but it's iOS 18.2 that brings exciting image generation features, including Apple's Image Playground, which creates cartoon-like images from text descriptions. .
Here's what you need to know about Apple Intelligence features, including what they are, how to use them, and when they start.
What is Image Playground?
Image Playground is part of Apple Intelligence, Apple's suite of AI-driven tools. This new feature allows users to enter a text prompt and the AI generates a cartoon-like image.
Image Playground can be accessed from a dedicated image creation app or via the Messages app by clicking the plus (+) button to the left of the text box.
The Playground app is available on your home screen. Look for an icon that resembles a white cat or fox (or maybe another furry creature, I'm not entirely sure).

How to generate images in Playground
Using Image Playground is very easy. Like other image generators, there is a text input area that describes the image and lets the AI create the image for you, such as “dog blowing out birthday candles on cake.”
If the results aren't what you want, you can use more detailed instructions to adjust the results or choose one of Apple's recommendations. You'll see several image options that you can swipe and choose from.
You can also upload a photo of yourself, your pets, or your family to get an AI-generated image and add elements like a party hat they're wearing or a beach background. Additionally, you can also change the art style.
When will Image Playground be released?
Image Playground is part of the iOS 18.2 public beta. Anyone enrolled in Apple's beta software program has access. Official rollout is scheduled for December.
