At CES 2025, Samsung announced that it will bring popular features from its phones and tablets to TVs.
Live Translate does exactly what it says on the box, providing users with real-time translations of live broadcasts. The feature works in seven different languages, although it's not entirely clear which ones at the time of publication. In its current form, the system works by translating the subtitles on the broadcast rather than listening to the audio directly.
Live Translate was introduced in early 2024 as part of the Galaxy S24 launch. Currently, it works in 13 different languages on the front of the handset. This is approximately twice as large as the TV version.
The company is also adding AI-based audio removal with audio subtitles, a feature it says is focused on the visually impaired community. According to Samsung, the new feature “analyzes subtitles, separates audio, and adjusts reading speed for a seamless experience.”
Both of these features will be introduced in the TV line in 2025. There's no word yet on whether Samsung will offer backwards compatibility for older sets.
