Brave Search announced Thursday that it is adding a new feature called “Rerank,” which allows users to adjust search results by upvoting or downvoting specific websites.
This feature is available to all users and appears at the top right of the search results page. When a user opens the panel, they can “pull” or “drop” a domain by clicking the thumbs up or thumbs down sign. Brave then fine-tunes your search by prioritizing results from sites you've upvoted and ignoring results from sites you've downvoted.
Brave says its AI-powered answers feature will also record changes you make and provide some search results accordingly when summarizing answers.
The company claims that the rerank feature frees people from the one-size-fits-all approach of search engines.

“Rerank makes it easy for users to explicitly tailor search results to their preferences, with complete control. Rerank puts users in control of their search experience, eliminating opaque personalization driven by unknown algorithms. No,” Arjaldo Karaj, Brave’s vice president of search, said in a statement.
In 2022, Brave debuted a feature called Goggles to filter results by predefined filters such as “News from the left,” “News from the right,” and “Technology blogs.” Developers have taken the time to create their own goggles that you can search through the marketplace.
Brave said the new Rerank feature does not replace Goggles, but leverages them and seeks to make personalization easier.
Google only allows search results from a specific site if the user uses “Site:xyz.com” in the query. Similarly, Brave's new options could be useful for people who prefer to browse specific sites for specific topics.
Brave says its search products currently serve more than 38 million queries each day and more than 1.2 billion queries each month.
