Meta says it is rolling out improvements to its cross-platform chatbot, Meta AI, including the ability to have the bot “remember” details from conversations.
In a post on Meta's official blog, the company said that in chatting with Meta AI on Facebook, Messenger, and WhatsApp on iOS and Android in the US and Canada, users can ask Meta AI to remember such specific things. He said he could give instructions. They love to travel and learn new languages.
According to Meta, the memory feature, similar to that of Openai's ChatGpt and Google's Gemini, allows Meta AI to pick up “important details” based on context. For example, if a user mentioned being vegan in a previous chat and asked Meta AI for breakfast ideas, the chatbot will consistently consider that dietary preference.

According to Meta, Meta AI does not remember things in group chats and users can delete their memories at any time.
In another, perhaps more controversial upgrade to Meta AI, Meta says its chatbot will use account information from Meta's app to provide personalized recommendations. That information may include the home location of your Facebook profile or recently viewed Instagram videos.
Here's how Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg pitched it in a post on Monday:
“The meta-AI will start giving you answers based on the preferences and information you have shared,” he wrote. “For example, it helps me come up with creative bedtime stories for my daughters so they remember that they love mermaids when they ask for something new.”

Personalized recommendations will be published on Facebook, Messenger, and Instagram in the US and Canada to get started. a Meta spokesperson told TechCrunch.
Meta is trying its darndest to give a positive spin to Meta AI's new information-scraffing abilities. But given that people don't trust Meta, especially Facebook, with their data, you'll wonder how the updates will be received.
