There are many projects that are currently ongoing, focusing on the development of video First apps for open source social network Bluesky. However, many other people are not standing out. Like many other people, the future app called Reelo is not built on the Bluesky social network, but is built at the root of the protocol used by Bluesky. This allows you to distinguish a long video, filter, effect, music library, and a wide range of functions that support live streaming.
Many apps in this space are restricted by Bluesky restrictions, such as Bluescreen, Bluesky's video, and Skylight. Bluesky was originally designed to compete with X (previous Twitter), so there is no function set comparable to an app like Tiktok.
These restrictions secure the room for a new type of video application equipped with an AT protocol that can operate with Bluesky, as is the case with Reelo, but can stand itself.
Other Bluesky Video Apps, when it works as a layer on a Bluesky platform, explains Reelo developer, REELO developer, based on Brazil's Rio Grande Do Sul. In other words, there are important functions that can compete directly with Tiktok, such as creator tools and monetization.

Like other developers, Joãodavi first tested the idea of building a Bluesky video app. But he immediately discovered that it wasn't what he was in his mind.
“When I finished my first prototype using Bluesky Technology, he said,” OK, this is crazy. I can't do anything. ” After all, Joãodavi pointed out that Tiktok functioned more than uploading the video.
“It was music, effect, [and] Various abilities, “he says. “Creating a video and posting a video is definitely not the most important thing. It makes a video that attracts attention.”

To deal with this, Joãodavi decided to operate based on an AT protocol like Bluesky, but has its own backend, code -based, and lexicon. (The latter refers to how the code determines how to distribute the view of the app.)
With this selection, Reelo can support up to 3 minutes -Bluesky for longer -live streaming. In comparison, Bluesky and other third -party video apps built on Bluesky are limited to one minute of Bluesky's video support (unless the company changes it in the future).
As the only developer of an independent business that provides funds for his efforts, he hopes to march before Reelo is released. (Joãodavi is already interested in investors, but this can speed up efforts, but has not been confirmed yet.)
REELO has a swipe -possible vertical video feed with familiar interaction buttons for preferences, comments, and sharing. To save user data, Reelo runs its own PDS (Personal Data Server), but technical users can set their own PDS as in Bluesky.

The app is interoperable with Bluesky. Users can find friends, but returning Reelo videos to BlueLoky can be an optional step as in the application user interface checkbox. (In the case of a cross -post, one minute video can be published directly to Bluesky, but it is necessary to embed a longer video.)
Like Bluesky, Reelo can provide multiple custom feeds, including a variety of topic feeds such as Bluesky video, another video for Reelo videos, music, and dance.
In order to monetize the app, Joãodavi is considering both ads and subscriptions that can share revenue with creators. The premium plan may include live streaming support and high -quality videos, but nothing has been decided yet.
But Joan Davi intends to create a split fair for creators. “I need only the money to pay [for] A person working with a server. More than that, he says, “What are you doing with this money?”
REELO is not available yet, but we will start signing up the beta tester earlier this year.
Correction: Joan Davi lives in Rio Grande de Sur, Brazil, not in Brazil. This was updated after the release.
