British engineering firm IMI disclosed a cybersecurity case days after it reported that rival company Smith had been targeted by hackers.
IMI, a Birmingham-based company that designs and manufactures products for industrial automation, transportation and climate control, said in a filing with the London Stock Exchange on Thursday that “Unauthorized access to the company's systems are currently involved.” He said he is responding to cybersecurity incidents.
London-listed IMI said the company is “involving external cybersecurity experts to investigate and contain the incident” and “takes necessary steps to comply with regulatory obligations.”
When asked by TechCrunch, IMI refused to comment on the nature of the incident and did not say whether the company's data was excluded. The UK Intelligence Commission did not immediately respond to a request for comment.
The UK-based Engineering Giant Smiths Group said last week it was working to “recover” systems affected following unauthorized access to the network.
Neither company provided a recovery timeline.
