A new Mac app called Framous will be launched on Tuesday, allowing you to add device frames around the screenshots to make them look more professional.
A useful new tool can help app developers, graphic designers, and even journalists who need to add iPhone or Mac frames (also known as mockups or templates) to their photos. This is especially useful for creating screenshots, landing pages and header images for articles.
This app was created by Dark Noise app developer Charlie Chapman. CharlieChapman needed a quick and easy way to add device frames around screenshots. Traditionally, many users relied on time-consuming methods, such as searching for templates online or placing screenshots manually.
There are similar apps and services like Ifframes (Safari Extension) and SMPro (iOS app), but I've noticed that there is a lack of dedicated solutions for Mac users.
Framous aims to be more efficient than other options as users simply drag and drop screenshots into the app and need to be automatically placed in the device frame. That's what I mean.
Key features include auto-detection, which selects the right frame from your device's library, such as Mac, iPhone, Apple Watch, Apple TV 4K. It also allows you to combine multiple devices into one image. There is also a landscape mode for iPhone.
Plus, there are plenty of customization options. For example, you can move the device button to the side to change the color of the frame. Like the latest iPhones, there is an edge-to-edge mode where photos can fill frames. You can also export images to Figma or sketch them for further editing.
Chapman spoke to TechCrunch about the app's future plans, including adding customization options such as Frame background, shadows, and padding controls. He also intends to introduce video support and the ability to save templates. The iOS app is also on the roadmap.
Framous is free to download on the Mac App Store. If you want to unlock all frames released in 2025, you will need to spend a one-off fee of $19.99. Or you'll have a $9.99 subscription each year, unlocking when all new frames are unfolding.
