eBay announced on Thursday that it has updated its platform that will help buyers find fast entry items and local lists thanks to changes to the search item card and the use of additional AI.
The Search Item Card will now display estimates of the delivery range for all rapid shipping items, so the company makes it easy to identify items with fast delivery.
It also has an “Delivery and Pickup” filter that allows customers to find items with faster shipping times. Additionally, you can use this filter to find items available in local pickups. eBay has deployed an item card update that shows how long it will take potential buyers to drive from their location to the item's location.
eBay says that because the seller network is globally decentralized, it has been difficult for forecasting models to provide accurate delivery and delivery estimates in the past. However, eBay has invested in AI to overcome this challenge by taking into account factors such as customer proximity to the item's location, selected delivery services, seller's shipping history, and real-time data synchronization.

As a result, the platform is now able to communicate delivery estimates more accurately, eBay says.
Additionally, eBay introduces new “top service” badges in Germany to help easily identify items that meet the standards of high quality. For example, badges may appear on items with fast and free shipping, free returns, or trustworthy sellers.
“These updates represent a huge advance in our commitment to providing a seamless and efficient shopping trip,” eBay said in a blog post.
By improving the user experience, eBay wants to remain competitive with other ecommerce platforms such as Amazon and Etsy, attracting more users and making it easier to navigate the platform.
