As dating app users are looking for more safety precautions, Bumble is finally offering a new ID verification feature on its competitor Tinder.
In addition to identity verification, the company has released three more features, including the ability to flag inappropriate messages in chat before users hit a send, and the ability to share date details with friends. Bumble has also launched a “discovery” page dedicated to helping users find matches with similar interests.
Bumble's new verification feature allows users to submit photos of government-issued IDs to authenticate their identity and earn a profile badge. This allows users to sort their profiles according to their ID-validated users and ask the match to complete the verification process.
This feature is currently available in the US, UK, Australia, Canada, France, India, Ireland, Spain, Germany, Mexico and New Zealand. It plans to expand to additional markets soon.
Bumble's ID verification badge makes it difficult for AI to figure out which dating profiles are real or fake. There are even cases where romance scams continue. Rival Tinder expanded its identity verification program to the US, UK, Brazil and Mexico last year.

Additionally, the new “shared date” feature allows Bumble users to share date details with trustworthy people, including who they meet, when and where they are. If plans change, they can update their friends directly on the app. Tinder launched the “Share My Date” feature in April 2024.
Another feature focusing on safety, “Review Before Submit” targets messaging sections where users often encounter inappropriate messages. Reviews introduced first for the compriments feature remind the sender to edit the Flagged message before submitting.
Bumble's new “discovery” experience offers a new way to find the most compatible people. Similar to Tinder's Explore page, users can explore different categories to find dating intent, similar interests and people who share their community. Profiles are updated daily.
The announcement of this feature is part of Bumble's attempt to rebound growth into dating apps after a 3.8% decline in quarterly app revenue in the fourth quarter.
