President Donald Trump has already delayed the ban on Tiktok twice, and he said he plans to do it again on Sunday.
In an interview with NBC's “Meet the Press,” Axios reported that Trump said he would allow the company to have another extension if there is no transaction to sell to U.S. owners in Tiktok before the current June 19 deadline.
“We probably shouldn't say this, but there's a slightly warmer place in Tiktok's mind,” he said.
Congress passed a law last year banning Tiktok if the parent company's ordinance did not sell the short form video app, and Tiktok temporarily disappeared when the ban came into effect in January. Trump then declared that he would delay the 90-day ban and suggested he wanted to see a joint venture with US ownership.
When the next deadline continued in April, Trump gave the company an additional 75 days extension, noting that the Chinese government (which must approve the transaction) was “not very satisfied with our mutual tariffs.”
