Google wears an OS smartwatch and Google TV on Gemini

At the Android show on Tuesday leading up to Google I/O, Google announced that Gemini will lead you to wear an OS smartwatch and Google TV. The announcement is part of Google's plan to replace Google Assistant with Gemini on all devices and platforms. Tuesday's announcement is no surprise. Because users expect Google to wear OS smartwatches and Google TVs to their AI assistants.

The tech giant says the expansion will allow AI assistants to access beyond the phone, allowing people to use it when they go on a run or relax on the couch.

OS smartwatch users can access Gemini on their wrist. Google says it's useful in situations where you can't use your phone, such as when you're cooking or when you're riding a bike.

Google points out that you can talk naturally with Gemini. That is, you don't need to get the words right.

For example, if you're in the locker room at the gym and you've already put your phone away, you can set reminders using Gemini on your smartwatch, such as “I'm using Locker 43 today.” Additionally, Gemini can connect to the app so you can ask about restaurants your friends emailed without pausing their training or using their phone.

Gemini will be wearing OS smartwatches in the coming months.

According to Google, Google TV's Gemini can do things like getting personalized recommendations for content, such as asking for a list of action movies that are suitable for kids.

Gemini can also answer questions. For example, your child can ask their assistant about the solar system. After that, Gemini can lift up the perfect educational YouTube video and learn more about various interests.

Gemini will be released on Google TV later this year.

The company is also integrating Gemini with Android XR, a new platform for augmented reality (XR) devices such as headsets and glasses. In December, Google announced that Android XR will be first launched in Samsung's project Moohan Headset.

It's no surprise that Google is bringing Gemini to Android XR. This is because the company previously said users can control their headsets with Gemini and ask questions about the apps and content they are watching.

“When the first headset comes on sale later this year, Gemini will help you do things like surround you with videos, maps, and local tips to plan your vacation, and more. This will help you create an entire itinerary in minutes in this extremely rich and immersive experience.”

As part of Tuesday's announcement, Google shared that Gemini will be coming to Android Auto in the coming months. This expansion allows users to ask Gemini to find a charging station on their way to the post office, for example, near the park. Additionally, you can ask them to summarise messages they receive and provide a summary of the news.
