WhatsApp is officially available on iPads, Meta announced Tuesday. With the new iPad app, you can make video and audio calls with up to 32 people, share your screen, and use both the front and rear cameras. Previously, if you wanted to use WhatsApp on your iPad, you had to use the web version in your browser.
The company says users can take advantage of iPados multitasking features such as Stage Manager, Split View and Slide. These features allow users to view multiple apps at once, send messages while browsing the web, and provide options for searching for group trips during call. On mobile, when you do this kind of thing, you need to switch away from WhatsApp.
The new iPad app also works with the Magic Keyboard and the Apple Pencil, says WhatsApp.
This new app allows users to sync everything through their iPhone, Mac and other devices. Personal messages, calls and media will continue to be protected with WhatsApp end-to-end encryption.
The launch of the dedicated iPad app was when Meta's WhatsApp account on X (formerly Twitter) teased the news with a subtle tweet yesterday.
It's worth noting that one of the other apps in Meta, Instagram, is reportedly working on the iPad app as well.
The dedicated iPad app can now be downloaded from the App Store.
