Facebook is rolling out support for PassKeys on both iOS and Android, the social network announced Wednesday.
PassKey login makes it difficult for bad actors to remotely access their accounts, as they require physical access to their mobile phones. Unlike standard logins, PassKeys uses a Face ID or Touch ID, PIN, or a physical security authentication key to validate your login.
PassKeys removes the need to rely on username and password combinations that are prone to phishing and other issues.

According to Facebook, PassKeys will be deployed to Messenger in the coming months, with users saying that users can use the same PassKey for both services.
PassKeys can also be used to automate payment information when making purchases using Meta Pay, says Facebook.
To set up PassKey, go to the new PassKey option in Accounts Center in the Facebook Settings menu. Once set up, you can use PassKey to log in to Facebook on your mobile phone. You will be able to access your account using other authentication methods, such as passwords, so that you can access your social networks even when using devices that do not support PassKeys.
Facebook is one of many high-tech companies that have introduced PassKey support over the past year or so. Other big names include Apple, Microsoft, Amazon, Google, PayPal, Tiktok, WhatsApp, X, and Github.
