Google Chrome's web browser for Android devices is finally catching up with the notable design changes Safari made with the introduction of 2021 iOS 15. It provides a way to move the address bar to the bottom of the screen.
The company announced on Tuesday that the latest version of Chrome for Android browsers will allow users who prefer a modernized experience designed to be easier to use on mobile devices to set an address bar at the bottom of the screen instead of the top. This feature was previously available in Chrome for iOS.
However, Google, which learned from Apple's previous challenges, does not force changes for all users. Instead, it adds a new feature that allows users to configure address bar locations to their preferences.

To move the address bar to the bottom of the screen, use the long press on the bar and select the option to move it to the bottom. You can also configure the address bar location in the Chrome Settings menu.
In many cases, users often prefer this option. Place the address bar near where you hold your phone, making it more comfortable to type.
When Apple first deployed the update, some users rebelled against the changes, complaining that it was a problem as the placement of the bars that initially floated above the content of the page was barely available. The bar had to block various elements that users had to tap, and swipe the bar to keep it out of the way. Others simply didn't like change.
In response to user feedback, Apple moved the bar down to the bottom of the page content, making it an optional option rather than a default.
Google approaches design updates in the same way by allowing users to make decisions.
The company said the feature will begin to appear on Android devices today and will be rolled out to all users over the next few weeks.
