Threads, which are meta competitors to X, have their own hidden word settings that work separately from Instagram. This feature allows you to filter posts that contain words, phrases, or emojis that you don't want to see in your feed, search, profile, or replies.
Previously, hidden words were tied to Instagram, so the filters you enter apply to content on both platforms. Now you can create a separate list of hidden words on the thread to further personalize the content that appears on the platform without affecting what is displayed on Instagram.
The thread also announced that it can set a time limit for filters if you don't want to permanently block certain words, phrases, or emojis. A way to “snooze” the app's related posts is to set the filter to expire within 30 days.

For example, this setting can be useful in situations where you are not caught up in a TV show and don't want to see spoilers in your feed, but you want to see posts related to the TV show when you finally catch up.
This move comes two weeks after the social network begins testing a separate DM inbox from your users' Instagram DM inbox. Today's announcement and direct message updates suggest that meta may be working to make threads more independent services outside of Instagram.
As threads take over X, social networks deploy many features each month. Most recently, the company launched a feature that allows users to view posts from other Fediverse users in their dedicated feeds, allowing Fediverse users to search directly in threads.
The platform is also testing spoiler text, allowing authors to use thread profiles to share links and track clicks.
