As Tiktok's future remains uncertain, the company is consolidating its core products and trust and safety teams into a single organization, according to an internal memo that was reviewed by Shou Zi Chew, and viewed by TechCrunch.
“This new team will help us to better leverage our technical capabilities across both business and safety goals, and help us move faster as we develop next-generation safety technologies,” Chew wrote in a note.
As part of the changes, the memo said Adam Presser, head of operations, trust and safety at Tiktok, will become the general manager of Tiktok USDS.
Andy Bonillo, current general manager of Tiktok USDS, who led the organization's creation and growth, will move into a new role as a senior advisor and report to the Presser.
The Tiktok Operations team will continue to report directly to the Presser, but Sandeep Grover will become the new director of global trust and safety.
Meanwhile, Jenny Ji will become the leader of Tiktok Live.
The reorganization comes when President Trump extended the third Tiktok closure deadline last month. The current deadline is September 17th.

U.S. Secretary of Commerce Howard Lutnick said last week that if China does not approve a deal to sell the app, Tiktok would be dark within the country. Lutnick also said the US must control the app's algorithms as part of its sales.
Given the tense situation in the middle of the tariff war with China, it's no surprise to see Tiktok trying to bolster its USDS team as US deals depend on balance.
“To increase robust trust and overall consistency of the safety program, the T&S product team will become part of the Tiktok product organization,” writes Chew. “We have created a new platform responsibility team led by Adam Wang and report to Fiona Gee. Adam has successfully led the release and expansion of Tiktok live shows over the past four years.”
“We are confident that this reorganization will bring us to a stronger position in line with the opportunities ahead of us,” the memo said.
