DuckDuckGo's privacy-focused browser has introduced a new “Sync & Backup” feature that allows users to privately sync and access bookmarks, favorites, and passwords across multiple devices. It's already possible to import bookmarks and passwords from other browsers into DuckDuckGo, but now you can privately sync those bookmarks and passwords between your DuckDuckGo browsers on multiple devices.
You do not need to create an account or sign in to use this feature. Also, in keeping with its privacy-first claim, the company assures users that his DuckDuckGo will never see your bookmarks or passwords.
DuckDuckGo says the feature works on most Windows, Mac, Android, and iPhone devices. With the launch of this new feature, users will be able to share information such as bookmarks and passwords from their DuckDuckGo browser. Mac Send to iPhone and vice versa.
With this new feature, users who have chosen DuckDuckGo as their preferred browser because their privacy is a priority and data sharing is not an option will now be able to synchronize their information and use the same browser on multiple devices. You could also use a third-party password manager before this feature was released, but a new update eliminates that need.
To start syncing and backing up, you need to go to your browser settings, select the “Sync & Backup'' option, click “Sync with another device'' and follow the instructions to “Start syncing''. If you're using a phone or tablet, you can link your device using a QR code. If you are using a desktop, you will need to enter an alphanumeric code. If you are using only one device, you can select Sync and back up this device from the Single Device Setup section.
Once completed, you can view a complete list of all synced devices and edit the device nickname.
Once all settings are complete, you need to save the recovery PDF in a safe location. This document contains recovery code. This is a unique code that allows you to access your synced data if your device is lost or damaged. According to DuckDuckGo, a recovery code is the only way to access your data from a new phone or computer.
