Instagram now lets you edit DMs within 15 minutes of sending them

Instagram today announced that it is rolling out a feature that will allow users to edit direct messages for up to 15 minutes after they are sent. The company also announced that users will soon have the option to pin up to three messaging threads to the top of their inbox.

The ability to edit your DMs lets you fix typos or change the content if your message doesn't sound right. To edit a message, you need to long press on the message and select “Edit” from the drop-down menu. When you edit a message, the label “Edited” appears above the purple text bubble to notify others that the message has been changed. The feature works similarly to Apple's iMessage editing feature, which was released about two years ago.

For the option to pin a chat to the top of your inbox, swipe left or tap and hold the chat, then tap Pin. You can unpin a thread at any time. This feature can be used to quickly access frequently accessed chats, but it can also be used as a way to remind you to return to a particular conversation later.

Instagram also recently started allowing all users to turn off read receipts for all or specific chats. To turn off read receipts for all chats, go to your account settings,[メッセージとストーリー返信]Tap[開封確認を表示]Click the button to toggle it off. The company first began testing the feature back in November.

The company shared that users can now save their favorite stickers in their DMs, and easily access them by long-pressing on the sticker they want to save. Save your sticker and you'll find it at the top the next time you visit your stickers.

By offering a better messaging experience, Instagram seems to want users to message friends and family through its platform rather than through competitors' messaging services.
