WhatsApp announced Thursday that users can now pin up to three messages in a chat for easy access. Previously, users could only pin one message on top of a conversation with a contact or group.
Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg and WhatsApp head Will Cathcart announced the feature on their respective WhatsApp channels. The chat app first rolled out the ability to pin messages in one-on-one and group conversations last December.
Users can pin all types of messages, including text, images, and polls. Pinned messages are very useful for quickly getting information like a friend's address or the location of a group outing you're planning.
To pin a message, you need to long press on the message and select “Pin” from the venue. You can also choose how long you want the message to persist: 24 hours, 7 days (default selection), and 30 days. This is useful for deleting pinned messages if the information becomes irrelevant by the day.
However, there is no option to permanently keep messages such as addresses. Therefore, you will need to re-pin that message after 30 days. The only way is to “star” the message and access it from the contact information menu.
