Meta's thread has begun testing a new feature that will allow people to add interest to their profiles on social networks. Instead of profiling topics like topics you might post with only ads to profile visitors, the new interest feature will direct users to active conversations about the topic.
The company believes this will help users find discussions to join with their platform X rivals without knowing which people to follow on specific topics like technology or sports.
This feature can also make threads more appealing for newcomers who want to quickly connect with others who discuss their favorite subjects. Join us in adding a recent custom feed for the thread. This allows threaded users to easily create feeds containing specific topics or specific user profiles and share them with other topics.
Like the new interest feature of profiles, custom feeds are also driven by an understanding of thread topics.
A Meta spokesman confirmed that the feature is currently under testing, noting that it is mobile for the time being only available. The company said details will be coming soon.

An example of this feature was posted to a thread by user @faslu_35 on Thursday, showing where interests on user profiles are displayed and how users can edit the list of interests from other screens.
Personalization features such as interests and custom feeds are also how threads can challenge BlueSky. It has grown to over 32.8 million users to social networking startups and X rivals thanks to the promise of decentralisation and custom tools to manage their own feeds, algorithms, and moderation.
