Adobe announced Tuesday that it has added Generative Remove functionality to Lightroom. gen AI capabilities built on Firefly allow you to seamlessly edit objects from your photos. This feature will be available in early access on Tuesday.
Adobe says this feature works well no matter how complex the object's background. According to the company, “Generative Remove can help you edit even the most complex backgrounds and environments, including removing stains on a patterned shirt, wrinkles on a tablecloth in a food photo, or unwanted reflections in water. ”
Photoshop developers announced their foray into generative AI in March 2023.
“Firefly is the next step in our AI journey, integrating our new ‘Gentech’ model from decades of investment in images, typography, illustration and more to generate assets,” the company said at the time. told TechCrunch. “We bring this value to customer workflows where content is created across Creative Cloud, Experience Cloud, and Document Cloud.”
At its release, this product offered text-to-image generation and the ability to adapt images to different styles. During those 14 months, Adobe introduced his Firefly into their video suite, used it to design vector graphics in Illustrator, and added generative fill capabilities.
The company said it is working closely with the photography community to improve and expand its new removal tools.
Adobe also announced Tuesday the availability of Lens Blur generation, which can be used to create bokeh effects and add a sense of depth to images.
