Rather than searching the internet for summaries of TV shows, where the risk of unintentionally revealing important plot points is high, Prime Video's latest feature is designed to help viewers avoid encountering spoilers. It is intended to.

Amazon on Monday announced the launch of X-Ray Recaps, an AI-powered generation feature that creates concise summaries of entire seasons, single episodes, and even parts of episodes. In particular, the company claims that guardrails are in place to prevent the AI from generating spoilers, so you can fully enjoy your favorite series without worrying about encountering unnecessary information.

This new feature expands on the streamer's existing X-Ray feature, which displays information such as details about the cast and other trivia when you pause the screen.

To use the summary, go to the TV show details page. There, you can use the new rewind icon to choose from three choices: a summary of the current episode, a summary of the entire season so far, or a summary of the previous season.

X-Ray Recaps is currently in beta and available only to Fire TV customers in the United States to get started. At launch, users will have access to this feature on all Amazon MGM Studios original titles, including “Daisy Jones and the Six,” “Mr. Jones,” and more. & Mrs. Smith,” “The Wheel of Time,” and “The Boys.”

It will be rolled out to additional devices by the end of the year.

As the company explained in a blog post, the feature leverages a combination of custom AI models (built with Amazon Bedrock and Amazon SageMaker) to analyze videos, subtitles, and dialogue to identify key events, conversations, and other information. Let me explain.

Amazon also said the feature is completely personalized to the moment you're looking at it. So whether you're just minutes into a new episode, halfway through a season, or returning to a series you've forgotten about, X-Ray Recaps can provide you with short snippets of scenes happening in real time. Masu.

Prime Video's announcement comes on the heels of rival Google TV releasing AI-generated summaries, a similar tool that creates quick summaries of TV shows and movies.
