Apple's WWDC 2024 keynote was packed with new platform updates and the release of Apple Intelligence, the company's generative AI service, but it was a developer conference after all, and Apple is giving developers more tools to increase app revenue and promote their apps with win-back offers and the release of new commerce APIs.
Taking back a subscription
Apple plans to allow developers to reach out to subscribed customers of their apps and bring them back with new offers. Developers can set which customers they want to reach, and Apple will surface repurchase offers in the App Store based on that. Users can easily re-download the app through the offer cards.
According to Apple, “Eligible customers can find resale offers across the App Store, including on product pages, in editorial selections on the Today, Games and Apps tabs, and within apps.”

Improved search suggestions
Apple has announced that it will be adding Focus State to the App Store later this year to improve search capabilities, including displaying recent searches and suggesting personalized search term recommendations.

Commerce API
Later this year, Apple will introduce a new kind of in-app purchase: new APIs for “complex monetization” use cases, such as content creator apps that offer subscriptions, apps with large content catalogs (such as apps that offer piecemeal subscriptions for different pieces of content), and digital content across multiple apps managed by a single developer.
Developers can recommend their apps
Developers can now notify Apple's App Store editorial team when they release new apps or updates for a chance to be featured across its various pages. The company says developers can highlight content such as in-app events, app pre-orders, and major updates.
Other Updates
Apple will now let developers define criteria for the type of users who can join TestFlight and try their apps. The company is also revamping the TestFlight invitation design and introducing analytics for public TestFlight links. Apple said that later this year developers will be able to generate one-time or custom-use codes to attract users to their macOS apps. The company will also allow developers to link custom App Store product pages in Apple Search Ads.
