Apple has released the latest update of the iPhone, iPad, and Mac operating system on Monday. This includes the switching of Apple Intelligence by default of the new device.
As part of the batch of this software update, Apple has released several patches to fix security bugs, “Possibility of being actively abused”. In other words, hackers were used to compromise devices -iOS 17.2, released in December 2023 for users who use software older than software.
Bugs are found in core media, a media engine that drive a variety of Apple devices, and is fixed to the entire product line, including iPhone, iPad, Mac, Apple TV, Apple Watches, and Mixed Real Head Set Vision Pro. Apple stated that hackers can “enhance privileges” by utilizing the corruption bugs of memory.
Apple did not trust any researchers to discover bugs, in practice, but not always. Apple's spokesman did not immediately comment on who used the bug or who opposed it.
This is the first bug found in iOS this year and was abused in the wild. For reference, Apple fixes at least seven bugs in 2024, which could be “actively used”.
