Ahead of the Worldwide Developer Conference on June 9, Apple on Thursday offered new updates to its global App Store business, sharing that developers generated $1.3 trillion in billing and sales in 2024. The study also noted that developer billing and sales of digital products and services in 2024 totaled $131 billion driven by mobile games, photo and video editing apps and other enterprise tools. Humanity says it has released a new set of AI models tailored for US national security customers. Social Network X has changed its developer agreement to prevent third parties from training large language models using the platform's content. In an update on Wednesday, the company added rows based on “reverse engineering and other restrictions.” This is a subsection of usage restrictions. Cellebrite, which manufactures forensic devices to unlock smartphones, said it has acquired mobile-tested Startup Corellium for $170 million in cash, with $20 million being converted to equity when it closes. Israel-based Serbright said the deal would help “accelerated identification of mobile vulnerabilities and exploitation.” Many of Cellebrite's technologies rely on using unknown vulnerabilities such as Zero-Day Exploits to unlock encrypted data stored on mobile phones. Corellium provides customers access to virtual, cloud-based Android and iOS devices for apps and security testing. North America continues to receive AI venture dollars, despite some experts characterising it as an increasingly hostile environment towards AI R&D, according to data from the Investment Tracker Pitchbook. Between February and May this year, VCS has poured $69.7 billion into North America-based AI and machine learning startups over 1,528 transactions. This compares to the $6.4 billion VC firms invested in European AI ventures over 742 transactions over the same period.
