Millions of packages are stolen every year. DoorBox aims to change the way packages are delivered with smart packaging boxes that have an anti-theft design with a live camera feed and an alarm that automatically activates if the box is tampered with.
After selling 2,000 units of an initial version that offered manual functionality, the startup announced its latest product, Smart DoorBox.ai, at CES 2025. This new system utilizes an automatic unlocking mechanism that uses AI to detect package delivery, enabling seamless delivery even when the recipient is not present.
DoorBox was founded by Kumar Sundaresan, who experienced theft of a valuable package containing his late father's glasses and watch shortly after delivery. This is Sundaresan's fourth startup. He previously founded three companies in the technology and online food ordering space.

Another great feature of the DoorBox is the steel cable that can be connected to a doorknob or other fixed object. The company says the cable is designed to withstand more than 800 pounds of force, making it nearly impossible to break. If tampered with, a 125 decibel alarm automatically activates and notifies the user through the mobile app. Users can also manually turn the alarm on or off at any time using the app. Can store 3 to 5 medium-sized items.
In addition to sending alert notifications, the mobile app also acts as a surveillance camera, allowing users to view a live camera feed when a sensitive package is anticipated. The app also allows users to remotely lock or unlock the DoorBox.
Smart DoorBox.ai costs $400 for the metal version and $300 for the plastic version, with a monthly app subscription fee of $20.
