Talking to many architects will say that Autodesk software, including AutoCAD and Revit in Autodesk, is essential for decades.
However, despite their extensive use, Amal Hanspal, former CO-CEO and highest product manager, uses a 20th century tool in the construction, engineering, and construction (AEC) industry. It is said that it is designed. The company that Hanspal, the latest startup -Hanspal, explains the “next -generation design platform of the building” is trying to change it. Currently, we are raising $ 46 million with the support of our efforts.
Hanspal has already become a problem shortly after a long career in the AEC technology field. He spent about 20 years in Autodesk, and in 2018 he jointly established Bright Machines, a manufacturing company (itself raised a large amount of money). Six years later, Hanspal left a bright machine and was looking for his next act.
His exploration in the AEC industry revealed great dissatisfaction among architects using existing software. This is almost a cloud -based, even a simple editing can take up to 45 minutes.
In 2023, Hanspal worked on the motif in cooperation with Brian Matthews, a former Autodesk product CTO.
Motif's first product is not ready until the first half of this year, but Hanspal took a rough picture of what it was. He stated that Motif is working on a platform that provides a set of a Cloud-Native 3D computer support design tool with machine learning and AI elements.

The 46 million dollar, which the startup is now procured, is a combination of seeds and Series A. Series A was led by Capitalg, the growth fund of Alphabet, and Redpoint Ventures led the Sea Drown.
Capitalg Partner's Jill Chase told TechnaCrunch that he is studying software for architects before meeting Motif. She realized that it was a very large market with outdated products.
She wondered why the existing tools were not yet confused and learned that it was very technically very difficult to put a 3D architecture model in the cloud.
In addition to the complexity of engineering, the sale of these tools may be challenging. “You need to have a relationship of trust with a large -scale architectural company so that they can even do the door.”
When she met Hanspal and Matthew, she immediately knew that her 40 -year experience in the AEC software industry would help to create a company that could undertake existing people.
For the reason why it takes a lot of time to release the first product, Hanspal has designed a company figma by comparing Motif's efforts.
“It's a very large and ambitious venture, and we know that what we know is to make a considerable amount of effort,” Hanspal said.
The motif is not just trying to confuse AEC software. Other startups in the sector include Snaptrude and Arcol.
However, Hanspal is convinced that Motif is most likely to win this market.
“It needs a very special team to really try,” he said. “I think that is us.”
