The smart pet wearables market is estimated at $1.72 million in 2024, with pet technology startups entering the market with dog trackers and collars that can link directly to satellite tracking without the need for an LTE signal. I am.
At CES 2025, SATELLAI introduced a pet tracker and smart collar. This includes features such as health monitoring, activity tracking, and an AI coach (accessible through a companion app) that provides guidance on training and pet care recommendations tailored to your specific dog. .
The company was founded by Mark Mao (now CEO), who previously worked at Huami, a Chinese smart wearable company that operates Fitbit competitor Amazfit. Mao came up with the idea for Satellai after noticing that his dog injured his leg while he was out. The company says the smart collar is equipped with seven different sensors that monitor your pet's health, including breathing and heart rate.
While there are a wide variety of pet trackers and smart collars available, SATELLAI says its product stands out in several ways. For example, the tracker uses a Qualcomm 9205S modem and can connect directly to satellite tracking without the need for a terrestrial signal such as LTE. This means that location information can be transmitted continuously, even in remote areas where there are no cell towers nearby. The company says this is the first dog tracker of its kind to offer direct satellite connectivity.
This tracker also comes with a harness that has a built-in solar panel, so it can be charged while your dog is wearing it.
Additionally, the SATELLAI collar uses dual signal transmitters for L1 (oldest GPS signal) and L5 (most advanced) signals, aiming to provide more accurate location information even in cluttered environments. I'm here. The company explains that using two different bandwidths is useful when the collar is around a lot of objects, such as trees or walls, and the signal gets reflected.
It also offers features such as virtual fences and different types of corrective feedback to help minimize barking and prevent your dog from approaching certain areas, such as pools or thorny rose bushes.
SATELLAI's smart collar is scheduled to go on sale in February, but the company tentatively plans to release the tracker in the spring. Final prices for both products have not yet been determined.
