Google Search's AI Overview, which displays a snapshot of information at the top of results pages, is starting to roll out in more than 100 countries and territories, the company announced Monday.
Google first launched the feature in the U.S. in May and gradually rolled it out to other regions. Google says AI Overviews has more than 1 billion monthly users worldwide.
As part of the rollout, the company is making this feature available in more languages, including English, Hindi, Indonesian, Japanese, Portuguese, and Spanish.
Since releasing AI Overview earlier this year, Google has been updating the feature to make it more useful. Earlier this month, Google launched inline links that appear directly within the text of AI summaries, which the company says will increase website traffic compared to previous designs that simply extracted text from the source. states.
Google is also using AI Overviews to grow its advertising business, and the company recently revealed that AI Overviews ads will now appear for relevant queries of mobile users in the United States.
AI Overviews found itself in trouble after the feature provided users with false and sometimes dangerous information (for example, the feature told users to put glue on a pizza) . Since then, Google has tweaked this feature and introduced similar functionality to shopping pages.
