The sun is peeking out from behind the clouds and the birds are chirping. This can only mean one thing. That means developer season is upon us. While the rest of us are out in the world touching the proverbial and literal grass, developers around the world are flocking to conference halls to find out what's coming next year for AI and OSes. Next week starts with his NVIDIA's GTC, and the next few months will include Microsoft Build, Apple's WWDC, and of course Google I/O.
The latter will be held at its usual venue, May 14th and 15th, at Shoreline Amphitheater in Mountain View, California. As I write this, I'm outside, a plane with a banner flying overhead, and a bird has just unloaded its cloaca onto me (I wish I was kidding) ). So I feel ready for the big event. . I still have two months to book my trip, but I'm definitely going (maybe pack a hat next time).
The show is aimed specifically at developers of Google's various operating systems, but things typically start with a keynote led by Sander. Expect many new features for Gemini and his other AI products, including updates to Android, Wear OS, Gmail, and more, as well as some consumer hardware (like the Pixel 8a). Skydiver is optional. Unfortunately, there isn't that much bird droppings. I think that's the danger of this job.
