Google officially released the NotebookLM app for Android one day before Google I/O 2025 and one day before the company said it would be deployed.
Since its launch in 2023, AI-based note-taking and research assistants are only accessible via the desktop. Google is currently making its services available on the go.
The iOS app is scheduled to launch on Tuesday.
NoteBookLM is designed to help people better understand complex information through features such as smart summaries and the ability to ask questions about documents and other materials.

The Android app gives you access to an overview of Audio, Notebooklm's AI-generated podcast based on source material. Audio overview includes background playback and offline support.
Also, with Android apps, people can create new notebooks and view notes they have already created. Users can also upload new sources from their devices to view sources that have already been uploaded to each notebook.
This app features a bright dark mode that is applied based on the system settings of the device.
Given the timing of the launch, Google may share more about the app during its company I/O keynote on Tuesday.
