Google has announced on Monday that Google will change the name of Google Maps Mexico Bay and Alaska Mountain Mountain Mountains to Google Maps, when the federal mapping database is in order of the Trump administration.
Google complied with President Donald Trump last week and changed the name of some American landmarks. After the Presidential Ordinance, a statement from the US Department of Affairs continued. The statement stated that the name change was official, and that the American geographic organization was working quickly to satisfy Trump's order.
“There have been many years of practice to apply a name change when updated by the official government's source,” Google wrote in X's post.
I received some questions about the naming in Google Maps. There have been many years of practice to apply a name change when updated by the official government's information source.

The name of the Mexican Bay in Google Maps will soon be the “American Bay” for US users. This is a completely new name created by the Trump administration.
Denali, the highest peak in North America, will soon appear on Google Maps for all global users as a previous name of Mount McKinley. The Mountain of Alaska was nominated in 1917 as Mount Mackinley to honor William McKinley, the 25th President of the United States. The peak was renamed Denari in the 2015 Obama administration. Despite the protest from the Senator of Alaska, the Trump administration has changed it.
However, not everyone in the world using Google Maps looks at the American Bay.
According to Google's social media posts, geographic names that are being contested among different countries are displayed on Google Maps based on the official name of citizens of each country. In other words, the name of Mexico Bay is the same for Mexico users on Google Maps. There, CLAUDIA SHEINBAUM, the president of the country, laughed at Trump and proposed a new name in the water area. In other countries, Google Maps displays both the United States and Mexico.
Google states that if the official American Naming database with the Geographic Name Information System or GNIS is updated, these changes will be added. The Ministry of Home Affairs has announced that the name of the American Bay and McKinley will be official on Friday, but both are still named Mexico and Denari on Monday evening.
