Google pays $30 million per Reuters to resolve a class action lawsuit alleging that it violated a child's privacy on YouTube.
The lawsuit alleges that Google has collected data from children watching YouTube videos. This type of data collection has become common, but according to the long-standing COPPA Act, it is illegal to collect data from children under the age of 13.
Google will resolve the case, but the company will deny these allegations.
Anyone in the US who watched YouTube while under the age of 13 between July 1, 2013 and April 1, 2020 may qualify for a small payment from this class action lawsuit.
