As the new grade approaches, Google announced on Wednesday it will launch a new tool called Guided Learning within Gemini. Tools are functions like AI tutors. This is because it is designed to help users build deeper understandings rather than getting answers.
The release continues over a week after Openai unveiled ChatGPT learning mode. This is designed to help users actually develop critical thinking skills and not simply get answers to questions.
The launches of both companies arise amid concerns that AI chatbots will sacrifice the learning process as they vent direct responses. New tools from Google and Openai may aim to address these concerns by placing chatbots as learning tools rather than simple answer engines.
With guided learning, Gemini breaks down the problems step by step and adapts explanations to the user's needs. This feature helps users to respond using images, diagrams, videos and interactive quizzes and build and test themselves with their own knowledge rather than simply giving answers.

Google says this feature helps users to clarify the “reasons” and “how” behind the concept.
“Whether you're preparing for an enzyme test, starting your first draft of a paper on the importance of bee populations in supporting the food system, or looking for your passion for photography, guided learning is a collaborative thinking partner that will help you get it.
In addition to the new features, Google has announced that it is working to equip Gemini to help users learn. Gemini automatically incorporates images, diagrams and YouTube videos directly into your answers so that users can better understand complex topics. Additionally, users can also create flashcards for Gemini and ask them to study the guide based on quiz results and other class materials.
