Apple's latest iOS 18.1 software update introduced a set of Apple Intelligence features, including writing tools and notification summaries. However, some features were missing from the lineup, such as Genmoji, which allows users to create emojis from written prompts.
The public beta versions of iOS 18.2, iPadOS 18.2, and macOS Sequoia 15.2 are now officially available, and the long-awaited AI-generated Bitmoji feature is finally available for some users to try out.
Here are the Apple Intelligence features that many people are looking forward to, whether you're part of Apple's beta software program and want to try it out, or just want to see what it actually has to offer. Here's what you need to know about. Genmoji will be released for all users.
What is Genmoji?
Genmoji first debuted at WWDC 2024 in June. This feature is built into the iPhone's emoji keyboard and allows users to generate their own emojis with prompts. For example, “Sloth in a suit and tie.” You can also generate emojis of people using photos. Source characters can be used not only in messages, but also in stamps and tapbacks. You can also react to messages using Genmoji or Apple's message effects.
How to create customized emojis using Apple Intelligence
To use Genmoji, first make sure Apple Intelligence is enabled. Next, launch the Messages app, start a new message (or go to an existing chat), and click the emoji keyboard in the bottom left corner. Then type the prompt into the search bar and select “Create new emoji” just below it.
After a few seconds, Apple Intelligence creates multiple AI-generated versions of the emoji based on that custom description. To save your favorite Genji, tap Add in the top-right corner to permanently include the new emoji on your keyboard.
To save a source character sent by someone, long press the source character and select Emoji Details. This will display the prompt that was used to generate the source character. There is also an option to download.
