How much does ChatGpt cost? Everything you need to know about Openai's pricing plan

Openai's AI-powered chatbot platform ChatGpt continues to expand its new features. The Chatbot's memory feature allows you to save settings to make your chat more tuned. ChatGPT also has an upgraded voice mode that allows you to interact more or less with the platform in real time. We also offer stores (GPT stores) for applications and services powered by AI.

So you may wonder: how much does ChatGpt cost? It's a more difficult question to answer than you think. Openai offers both paid and free ChatGpt plans for customers ranging from individuals to nonprofits, small businesses, educational institutions and businesses.

We've put together a guide on ChatGPT pricing to track the various ChatGPT subscription options available. We will continue to update as new plans are in place.

chatgpt free

Once upon a time, the free version of ChatGpt was very limited to what it could do. However, that changed as Openai deployed new features and underlying generator AI models.

CHATGPT free users can access OpenAI's GPT-4O MINI model, access content from the web, access to GPT stores, and responses with the ability to upload files and photos and ask questions about those uploads . Additionally, free users are restricted to access more advanced features such as Advanced Audio Modes, GPT-4O, and O3-MINI. Users can also save their chat settings as “memory” and take advantage of advanced data analytics. This is a ChatGPT feature that allows you to “infer” (i.e., data analysis) files such as spreadsheets and PDFs.

However, there are drawbacks that come with the free ChatGPT plan, such as the GPT-4O model and daily capacity limit for file uploads. ChatGpt free users are also missing out on more advanced features. This is explained in more detail below.

chatgpt plus

For individual users who need a more capable ChatGPT, there is ChatGpt Plus, which costs $20 a month.

ChatGpt Plus offers higher capacity than ChATGPT. Users can send 80 messages to the GPT-4o every three hours and unlimited messages to the GPT4O-MINI. Additionally, you can access OpenAI inference models, including O3-MINI, O1-PREVIEW, and O1-MINI.

ChatGpt Plus subscribers also have access to multimodal features, such as advanced audio modes with video and screen sharing, but they may encounter daily restrictions.

ChatGpt Plus subscribers are also restricting access to new tools, such as Openai's deep search agent and Sora's video generation.

Additionally, CHATGPT Plus subscribers can obtain upgraded data analysis capabilities supported by GPT-4O and create interactive charts and tables from the dataset. Users can upload files to analyze directly from Google Drive and Microsoft OneDrive or devices.

Chatgpt Pro

For those who want to get close access to Openai's products and for those who have the opportunity to try out new features first, there's the ChatGpt Pro. The plan is $200 per month.

ChATGPT Pro subscribers get unlimited access to inference models, GPT-4O, and Advanced Voice modes. The $200 tier also comes with 120 deep search queries per month and access to O1 Pro mode, which uses more computing than the version of O1 available on ChATGPT Plus.

ChatGpt Pro users can access Openai's web browsing agents, operators and even more video generations with SORA.

OpenAI tends to release most new features to ChATGPT Pro users first, and these users will gain priority access to existing features such as the GPT-4o at high demand times.

Chat Team

You own a small business or manage your organization and require multiple ChatGPT licenses and collaborative features. ChatGpt teams may fit your invoice. $30 per user, and $25 per month charged per month for up to 149 users.

The ChatGpt team provides dedicated workspaces and management tools for team management. All users of the CHATGPT Team Plan have access to the latest model of OpenAI and the aforementioned tools that CHATGPT can analyze, edit and extract information from files. Beyond this, CHATGPT teams can build and share people within their team, just like apps in the GPT Store, based on the OpenAI model. These apps can be tailored to a specific use case or department, or tailored with team data.

ChatGpt Enterprise

Larger organizations (organizations that require more than 149 CHATGPT licenses) can specifically choose CHATGPT Enterprise, OpenAI's enterprise-centric CHATGPT plan. Openai does not publish the pricing for ChatGpt Enterprise, but reported costs are around $60 per month, with a minimum of 150 users and a 12-month agreement.

ChatGpt Enterprise adds “enterprise-grade” privacy and data analytics capabilities over vanilla ChatGPT, enhancing performance and customization options. It has a dedicated workspace and management console with tools to manage how employees in your organization use ChatGPT, including a single sign-on, domain validation, and a dashboard showing usage and engagement statistics .

Shareable conversation templates provided as part of the CHATGPT Enterprise allow users to build internal workflows and bots that leverage CHATGPT. Meanwhile, OpenAI's API platform credits allow businesses to create a fully custom ChatGPT power solution if they choose.

ChatGpt Enterprise customers also get priority access to models and lines of OpenAI expertise, including dedicated account teams, training, and integrated invoices. He is also eligible for a business associate agreement with OpenAI. This is mandatory under US law for businesses that want to use tools such as ChatGPT using private health information such as medical records.

Chatgpt edu

Openai's new product, ChatGpt Edu, offers a version of ChatGpt built for the universities and students participating in them. Pricing has not been published yet, but hasn't been reported for second hand yet, but I will update if this section is like that.

The CHATGPT EDU is comparable to the CHATGPT Enterprise, except that it supports SCIM, an open protocol used to simplify cloud identity and access management. (Openai plans to introduce SCIM to ChatGpt Enterprise in the future.) Like ChatGPT Enterprise, CHATGPT EDU customers will be able to use data analytics tools, administrator control, single sign-on, enhanced security, and build and share custom chatbots. Gets the feature.

The ChatGpt Edu comes with the latest Openai models, which, importantly, increases the message limit.

Openai for nonprofit organizations

Nonprofit Openai is an early foray into Openai's nonprofit technology solutions. It's not as much a standalone ChatGPT plan as the various discounts from eligible organizations.

Nonprofits can access ChatGpt teams at a discount rate of $20 per user per month. Large nonprofits can get a 50% discount on CHATGPT Enterprise. This amounts to around $30 per user.

However, eligibility requirements are very strict. Nonprofits based anywhere in the world can apply for discounts, but Openai currently does not accept applications from academic, medical, religious or government agencies.

This article was originally published on June 15th, 2024. Updated on February 25th, 2025, it includes new Openai features including O1 and Deep Research, as well as a new ChatGPT Pro plan.
